Terry O’Brien, MPA
Terry O’Brien is the Executive Partner, Health Care Systems Growth & Development at SCALE Healthcare.
Terry served as Catholic Health Services of Long Island’s Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development focusing on both strategic direction, physician alignment strategy and the oversight of CHS’s IPA, ACO and DSRIP programs.
Terry is the former 20-year Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Lenox Hill Hospital. In addition to overseeing the management of Lenox Hill’s day-to-day operations and strategic plan, Terry was instrumental in establishing in 1992 one of New York City’s first and most successful physician hospital organizations (PHO), the Lenox Hill Healthcare Network (LHHN). At its peak, LHHN served more than 100,000 Commercial, Medicaid and Medicare risk lives. It included 7 hospitals in 3 boroughs of New York City, and contracted with commercial Medicare and Medicaid managed care companies, with over 750 physicians in both a shared savings and full risk environment. In 2000, he initiated a full risk contract with the Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York (HIP), serving 30,000+ Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid lives and structured a new physician practice of nearly 100 physicians, the Lenox Hill Community Medical Group.
Terry earned his BSBA in Accounting from Georgetown University and his MPA from the Sloan Institute of Hospital Administration at the Johnson School of Business, Cornell University. He has served as a member of numerous boards and committees including at the Greater New York Hospital Association, HealthFirst, VHA Metro New York, the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association, Nassau Queens PPS and the Suffolk Care Collaborative, among others.
